Building Technology to Empower the Enterprise

Alex Chang, Solution Director and Alex Shegda, Solution Director, Point B

Over the last decade, technology leaders have been tasked with digitizing essential value streams that drive the enterprise, leading to the emergence of innovative technology platforms such as Salesforce and Workday. These platforms have revolutionized the way technology leaders digitize vital enterprise value streams like Lead to Cash and Hire to Retire, resulting in significant efficiency gains. As a result, enterprise software spending has skyrocketed from $297 billion in 2013 to an anticipated $856 billion in 2023.

As we look forward to the next decade, technology leaders will be expected to continue evolving their tech capabilities to automate and enhance the value streams unique to their company and industry – most of which are ignored by these large enterprise platforms. Opportunities abound for IT to embed new force-multiplying technologies to accelerate growth, create a more resilient workforce, and move their organization forward.

This is where Point B stands out – at the intersection of technology and growth. We partner with our customers to design, build, and scale their capabilities, and unlock their potential in the space between established enterprise platforms and emerging technologies. As connectors, we leverage our expertise, industry insights, and transformative technology to create value for our customers and their employees.

Our human-centered approach enhances collaboration between business and technology stakeholders to yield exponential innovation. We understand the unique needs and nuances of our customers, their industry, and their organization’s cultural context and then tailor our approach to create sustainable solutions that support your critical business outcomes.

As we look forward to the next decade, technology leaders will be expected to continue evolving their tech capabilities to automate and enhance the value streams unique to their company and industry – most of which are ignored by these large enterprise platforms.

To illustrate our work, let’s look at a practical example from a Fortune 500 life sciences company. The company was operating with an established ecosystem of industry-leading technology platforms – including learning platforms, content management platforms, clinical trials management platforms, and more – and sought innovative ways to accelerate their clinical trials value stream by improving employee effectiveness. Although their current platforms improved operational efficiency within their designated domains, the organization faces a collection of disconnected datasets and inconsistent employee experiences across their clinical trials value stream. It is this inefficiency that we helped them solve.

We partnered with the company’s digital leader and business stakeholders to co-design a custom digital platform to integrate the company’s existing disparate platforms to surface context-rich information and enable a seamless digital experience for the employees across the clinical trials value stream. This new platform unlocked three key levers for the company and its employees:

1. Improving employee effectiveness. Our solution provides a digital platform that is employee-focused and offers rich, personalized, and interactive experiences to guide employees with the execution of their inter-connected clinical trial tasks. Employees are empowered to journey through the entirety of the company’s global processes with the ability to drill into individual process tasks with detailed guidance.

2. Creating a contextual data fabric. We integrate data from multiple silos and domains (such as processes, standard operating procedures, responsibility and accountability matrix, trainings, templates, and tools) to create a new data fabric of contextualized information. Users can access interrelated data across domains with a single click through our contextual knowledge graph.

3. A cloud-native approach. Our solution is built with a cloud-first approach to provide scalability as the user footprint and data volume increases. It also offers agility to evolve rapidly with organizational needs and security with integrated identity and access management.

In 2023, the Clinical Trails Drug Marketplace is expected to be $52.7 billion. Imagine the value of accelerating your company’s ability to get your drug through trials faster – by weeks, months, and potentially even years? You too can accelerate your company’s crucial value streams through a mix of custom designed technology, industry, and domain expertise that unlock faster growth and market share. If you’d like to discuss how, let’s connect.
